About Homero Garza, MD

Dr. Homero Garza grew up in Tampico, Tamaulipas, Mexico. He attended Tecnologico Medical School in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon.

As a child he dreamed of being a Doctor, and as he began his studies, he realized that his real passion was to care for infants and children, developing the commitment to their health, growth and development. His work experience began in Baylor College of Medicine, and then he worked in Texas Children’s Hospital, where he completed his pediatric internship and residency.

As a pediatrician, he hopes to impact their health so they can have a better future by making better health choices.

In his spare time, he enjoys family time. He has young children that require his full attention. He is an avid baseball fan and tries to attend as many games as possible. When possible, he also travels with his family and exposes them to other cultures. He considers it essential that they learn from other ways of living in order to become better human beings.

He is a very caring, giving and compassionate human being. He pays attention to detail and is literally on top of every aspect of this office. His team asserts that it’s a pleasure and an honor to work with him.

About Dr. Santiago

Dr. Santiago grew up in Caguas, Puerto Rico, and always felt a deep vocation for community service and accompaniment of families. With this clear motivation, she began his academic path as a board-certified cellular and molecular biologist at the University of Puerto Rico, specifically at the Rio Piedras Campus. The formation cemented her scientific understanding of the children’s development and the pediatric diseases.

Her trajectory continues in Puerto Rico’s hospitality system, where she completed his medical training. Later, she completed her pediatrics residency at Texas Children’s Hospital and Harris Health System, two recognized national institutes for clinical excellence and a human-focused approach. During this stage, Dr. Santiago strengthened her abilities in diagnosis, comprehensive patient management, and family support in different growth phases.

After finishing her residency, a mutual colleague connected him with Dr. Homero Garza. This moment was a before-and-after in her career, because it marked the beginning of her integration into Dr. Homero’s team. Her decision to be part of this practice stems from a genuine commitment: offering patience, time, and amiability to every child and each parent who comes into the office.

Out of the office, Dr. Santiago loves to explore new flavors, whether trying new local restaurants or cooking at home. This passion for gastronomy reflects her close, curious, and warm personality, which also carried her pediatric practice.

Today, Dr. Santiago continues the same mission that brought her to medicine: to provide the community with accessible, reliable care and create an experience where families can feel heard, accompanied, and safe.

About Ana

Ana is board-certified in a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and has more than six years of experience as a nurse in pediatric hospitals. At Homero Garza Pediatrics, she provides comprehensive care for families and their children’s health in every service we offer.

She grew up in the Valle del Rio Grande, in the south of Texas, a region that influences her service vocation deeply and her commitment to the community. From an early age, she developed a strong interest in healthcare and family medicine, which led her to build a solid career in the medical field.

She earned her Master of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner at the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. Her academic formation allows her to acquire a comprehensive vision of patient care and combine it with her clinical knowledge, prevention, and support along different stages in the patients’ lives.

Her passion for pediatrics strengthens even more when she becomes a mother, the moment when her wish to serve the pediatric community grew significantly. This personal episode transforms her service into a genuine experience and a real connection with parents and a better understanding of the concerns that arise when caring for their children’s health.

Ana grew professionally for six years as a nurse in a pediatric hospital and at the UTRGV clinic. Additionally, she has four years of experience working directly with children and one year working with adult patients. Today, what motivates her every day is the goal of serving children and their families, offering attention consistent with excellence, love, and patience. Her objective is to create a safe and reliable environment where parents feel heard and accompanied in every aspect of their children´s health.

Out of the office, Ana enjoys spending time with her family and friends, attending church, drinking coffee, and resting. These personal activities boost her energy to provide warm, dedicated care to her patients.
